Make your own reusable snack bags and giveaway winners!

If you are like me, you have lots of little plastic baggies like this
and this
in your purse, car, diaper bag, etc.

I decided that I waste way too many plastic baggies. I get a new one at least once a day. I always have to have snacks for my little guy whenever we go anywhere. So, to solve this problem, I decided to create reusable snack bags. These do not require great sewing skills. You just need to be able to sew a fairly straight line. I am not a seamstress by any means, but I can sew a somewhat straight line.

First you need to cut to squares of fabric to the desire size of your bag. I had extra cotton flannel fabric from some rag quilts I made, so I just used those. They were 6"x6" in size. Any cotton fabric should work well.Next, fold the fabric down on one side about 3/4" and sew the fold down using a zigzag. You now need to pin the right sides of the fabric (side with pattern) together and sew the three sides of the square together. Don't sew side with the folded down fabric.Next, cut iron-on Velcro to fit the size of the opening of the bag and ironed it on according to package directions.Flip the bag right-side out and the bag is complete! The Velcro is really strong and won't let anything escape! To show my appreciate to my followers, I have chosen a follower from this site and Facebook to using random.org to receive two of these snack bags. Thank you for following! All of you readers who haven't signed up to follow, please do! I will occasionally be doing giveaways for my followers.

The winner from my Blogger followers is:

The winner from my Facebook followers is:

Congrats! I'll get those snack bags to you soon!

  1. These are really cute! I was JUST thinking today how annoying it is to use so many baggies. Do you think you can line it with something or just wash it when needed?

  2. I have some little snack tupperware containers that I use and the nice thing about them is all of the crackers don't get smashed so I don't end up with baggies full of crumbs.

  3. I think that would be cute too if you had a kid who has a favorite character (elmo etc) you could buy material with it on.

  8. These look like they are so easy to make. Do you line them with anything or have you tried that? Just curious.....Thanks for sharing your great idea!
