Homemade Yellow Cake

I've had a request to post the recipe I use for homemade cakes. I used this recipe on this train cake and this airplane cake. This recipe makes a firmer cake that is easier to decorate. I personally don't think it tastes as good as a cake mix because I like soft cakes, but it definitely is helpful when piecing together a creative cake.

Yellow Homemade Cake

2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs

Mix wet ingredients together and then add sifted dry ingredients to the bowl. Mix well. Add batter to well-greased 13"x9" pan and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool cake for 10 minutes before removing.
