Organize your recipes with binders

I have found the best way to keep my recipes organized is to print them out and then put them in a plastic sheet protector and file into a binder. When I see a recipe in a magazine or on a blog that I like, I just rip or print it out and file it away. I found these great binders that I love because they are flexible and don't break down like the hard binders and they have a place for you to insert a cover page at the front.

I have three binders. I categorize my recipes by main dishes, tasty treats, and bread, soups, and salads. Within each binder I have tabs that divide even further. In my main dish binder I have tabs for Cooking Tips, Italian, Mexican, Oriental, and Traditional Meat Dishes.I've designed these covers for the front of the binders that you are welcome to print and use as well. If you are feeling creative, you can design your own to fit your style. One of these days if I get really ambitious I am going to create a hardbound book with all of my favorite recipes. Have you seen those? There are several sites that allow you to do this...I'll post on this another day.

I am interested in how you like to organize your recipes. Please leave a comment and let me know!

  3. Great idea!!! I have been meaning to do something like this, I just haven't gotten around to it. I like your system! I hadn't thought of separating into different types of foods. Sheet protectors are sadly out of my budget at the moment though...booo.
