"The human soul is like a violin string. It makes music only when it is stretched. Stretching the soul toward excellence is a genuine source of happiness. "
This quote is a good reminder that our trials really help us stretch to become better people. Recently I have heard of so many people going through hard experiences ranging from health problems, divorce, job loss, financial difficulties, loneliness, etc. Everyone has some challenge they are battling. Sometimes you wonder why some people are given such difficult obstacles. Last night on Extreme Home makeover: Home Edition, the parents lost a daughter to domestic violence and a son to a drunk driver. Wow! I felt for that family. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child let alone two. It was amazing that despite of those challenges the mother was reaching out to inform others about domestic violence and drunk driving. They are also raising the grandchildren of their deceased children. It would be easy in that situation to be bitter or to shut down, but she found a cause that is helping her heal.
In the bible, John 14:27 tells us, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
When going through trials it is comforting to know the Lord is there for us. He understands how we feel. We can overcome all trials with the help of the Lord. He has a plan for each of us and somehow the trials placed in our way will help us become the person we need to be.
Erika, thanks. I needed to read this today.
