Healthy Breakfast Toppings

I love breakfast foods. Waffles, crepes, and French toast are among my favorites. However, the toppings I like to put on top of them (whipped cream, real maple syrup) usually aren’t healthy. The white flour that is in these breakfast items isn’t very healthful either. So I have created whole wheat recipes for all my favorite breakfast foods. I also have found delicious and healthy toppings. I put fresh or frozen berries on top of these foods with a couple of dabs of vanilla yogurt. It is delicious and healthy!

Pictured below is some quick and easy whole wheat French toast. I just mix an egg with a little skim milk and some cinnamon and dip two pieces of whole wheat bread in the mixture. I will be posting my favorite breakfast whole wheat recipes in the next couple of weeks.

  2. One of our favorite syrups for our waffles is a strawberry syrup that is really simple. You just combine a 16 oz sour cream (you can do the nonfat or lowfat) and the same size of frozen sweetened strawberries thawed out. I wonder if it would be just as good with vanilla or plain yogurt.
