Clean your air with a house plant

Did you know that many household plants also double as air filters? This week while you are decluttering, why not find a spot to put a beautiful plant. Saturday I went and bought the plant pictured below for $5 at Lowe's. It freshens up our living room and it is also removing pollutants from our air! You can check out this link or this link for a list of all kinds of air filtering plants. Also, here are a few of my favorites:
  • Striped Dracanea (what I bought)
  • Gerbera Daisy
  • Peace Lily
  • Spider plant
  • Mass Cane/Corn Plant

Many household plants are toxic to children and pets, so be sure to check out this link to see if your plants are.

  2. Ha, ha. Me too! We moved in the wintertime and our plants either died or never fully recovered from the cold. I have some family/friends with green thumbs, so maybe in the spring I'll have them give us some tips!

  3. I must have the healthiest air in the Bay area within my house!

Kurt keeps making new plants from last year's Valentines present. 3 to be exact. He prunes off vines and starts a new plant. He's my little green thumb.
