September Must Read: These is My Words by Nancy E. Turner

The ladies in my local book club are doing an amazing job and I am loving all of the books they are picking lately. These is My Words is our September book and I loved it so much I am choosing it as my "Must Read" this month.

The author, Nancy E. Turner, wrote this fictional book based on a few facts she knew about her great-grandmother. The story is told through the journal of Sarah Prine. Sarah's journal begins in 1881 when she is 18 years old and follows her life over the next 20 years. As I read the book, I felt like I knew exactly what life was like in the rough, Arizona frontier as I experienced Sarah's tragedies and triumphs with her. Have you seen those pearl decorated pistols from that time period? I now understand why the women carried them in their purses! It really was the wild west between conflicts with the Indians, train robberies, and crooks. Of course, like most books I love, there was a beautiful love story. I won't spoil it with any details, but you'll love it! Like any good book this one leaves you thinking...I am still thinking about it and I finished it a couple weeks ago. This book is historical fiction at it's best. Definitely a must read!

  1. Erika,

Do you have a copy of this I could borrow by any chance? I have been trying to get it at the library but haven't been able to. I'd love to read it sometime. Thanks!
