Father's Day gift ideas

Still looking for the perfect Father's Day gift? Here are a few ideas to help you out.

Kringle Pastry
Several years ago when my dad was visiting Wisconsin, he discovered kringles. Kringles are flaky, Danish pastries usually filled with some kind of fruit and iced. They originally were in a pretzel shape but now are made in an oval shape. Sometime after I saw a special on kringles on Food Network and they mentioned on the program you could order kringles and have them shipped to your home within a day or two (depending on the shipping option you choose). Each year for father’s day or my dad’s birthday, I will send him a kringle or two. He thinks the blueberry flavored are the best. So, if your dad loves pastries like mine does try out one of these kringles. They are about $12 and with 2-day shipping it is about $20 total.

Design a photo card
A homemade card is another thoughtful father’s day idea. Check out my Valentine’s Day card post for more info on cards. You could do a similar card that I did last year for mother’s day (shown above) and insert a good dad quote. Some quote ideas:

“Any man can be a father, but it takes a special person to be a dad.”
~Proverb quote

“Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope."
~Bill Cosby

"I don't care how poor a man is; if he has family, he's rich."
~M*A*S*H, Colonel Potter

"The greatest gift I ever had
Came from God; I call him Dad!"
~Author Unknown

“He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.”
~Clarence Budington Kelland

Photo gifts
Photo gifts are also fun father’s day options. What grandpa wouldn’t love a photo book full of pictures of his grandchildren? My dad likes to barbecue, so last year I made him an apron with a picture of my son on it. Costo photo, Shutterfly, and other similar sites have all kinds of photo gift ideas. Make sure to look at the shipping time, because it may be to late to order some of these items in time for father’s day. If you really want to make a custom photo gift, you could always give your dad a card on Father's Day and let him know his gift is on it's way (just a bit late).
